Facebook Collaborative Writing Group
Technology in language learning is a hot topic in educational development. Government encourage institutional to take advantages of technology in teaching and learning process, one of the instances is social media. Social media allows the users to have conversation, share information and develop their own content of interest. In this article, the researchers try to figure the effect of facebook as a media on writing performance. They believe that social networking can encourage critical engagement in discussion as peer feedback. I agree with it because Facebook provide the users comment space which make the students are able to have discussion and conversation virtually and share their opinions or ideas in fulfilling their writing assignments. Facebook is also popular social media, most of students have facebook account which makes the teachers and the students are easier in teaching learning process. Online learning can boost student's confidence in language acquisition. They are surrounded with rich and authentic information from the social interaction.
Implication:
Not all teachers understand in taking advantages of technology. In this globalization era, I think that as a teacher, we should develop interesting learning by using technology as the media. Facebook is such a good media to teach writing based on the result of the research. Maybe in the future I can take the benefit of other media to teach English. It is much easier for the students because they have been surrounded by the technology in 20th century.
