Task-Based Language Teaching


There are so many approach in teaching languange. Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) approach is believed as an effective approach based on some experts who has conducted research.TBLT focuses on communicative learning.  According to this article, task is conscious activity that has specified objectives for some rewards.In relation with language learning, task is activity of using language which emphasis on meaning to gain the objectives.In the past, task was considered as production of learning process, but now it is followed by communicative approach of language teaching so it is called as Task-based Languange Teaching approach. "Tasks are seen not a means by which learners acquire new knowledge of restructuring their inter-language, but simply as a means by which learners can activate their existing knowledge of the L2 by developing fluency” (Ellis, 2003, p.30). In this article, the task is selected based on learning standard for ESL and TOEFL writing section. It shows significant effect for the student's writing proficiency.


Implication : 
TBLT is a simple approach to teach language,in this context is writing proficiency. The stages are plan, report and present. The students asked to write about the topic in group.The media used is their text-book. Therefore,it decrease the complexity of ESL teaching.
